Feed a nameless organism, choose what it evolves into and document the increasingly administrative consequences.
Oh God It Grows is a free browser idle game about feeding something that should not have been fed. Grow organs, choose mutations and go extinct to make the next life stronger. The specimen begins as biology, passes through bureaucracy and eventually becomes difficult to classify.
Oh God It Grows is a free, choice-driven idle game that runs immediately in a browser. A nameless organism waits in a jar. Each tap becomes biomass; organs automate production; mutation cards ask what the specimen should become next. Fourteen branching forks can turn the creature from a simple biological problem into an institution, an astronomical state and something the filing system cannot contain. Extinction converts a life into permanent genome and traits, so later specimens move faster and reach stranger branches. Twelve secret hybrid combinations reward experimentation, while rare colour morphs, ocular anomalies, habitats and preserved garden specimens give collectors something less useful to pursue. There is no download, account, advertising or cloud save. The playable game is built in one HTML document, works offline after loading and stores progress locally in the player’s browser.
What is distinctive
- Branching mutations: 42 normal forms across 14 decisions, with every choice changing appearance, naming and production.
- Secret combinations: 12 permanent hybrid discoveries hidden across the mutation tree.
- Visible lineage: the procedural creature records the accumulated route rather than showing a fixed upgrade sprite.
- Prestige with fiction: extinction, genome and new epochs turn the standard reset loop into part of the specimen record.
- Local-first play: no account, advertising or personal tracking; save codes can be exported manually.
- One-file game: the playable application uses native browser APIs, procedural SVG and no game engine.
Coverage notes
The tone is a calm laboratory filing ordinary paperwork about an escalating catastrophe. It is better described as a choice-driven incremental or idle evolution game than as a conventional clicker. The main interaction is immediate, but the complete mutation tree is designed to take repeated lives.
Spoilers: showing early biological mutations is encouraged. Please avoid publishing the complete hybrid recipes or every terminal choice without a clear spoiler warning.
Content note: comic body horror and extinction are described rather than shown graphically. One unlockable piece of regalia depicts a cigarette.
